Basketball Tournament

 

The first annual NMS & J2 Memorial Scholarship 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament was held on October 23, 2010 at the Paul Bohan Gym. The tournament benefitted recipients of the NMS & J2 Memorial Scholarship Fund.

The Noél Monique Shorten and Jason Tyrell Stewart, II Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2009 to assist promising students in fulfilling their educational passion shared with Noél. This scholarship, in the amount of $1,000.00, is awarded to a highly deserving high school senior on the basis of academic merit, good character, service to others and/or financial needs. Last May, Mr. Khian Antwi of Huntsville High School, was our first scholarship recipient who was awarded $500 for two semesters.

We are pleased to announce the winners of each category:

• Men 18 & Up: GMEC: Jason O'Bryant, Damarquin Holmes and Octavious Williams of Huntsville
• Women 18 & Up: Mo. City Throwbackz: Monica Okolo, Angelique Baulding, Nicole Duncan, Brandi Justice, & Eshirika Brice of Missouri City
• Boys 14 -17: Branch: Kelab Branch, Jerrel Hall & Travis Whitaker of Huntsville
• Boys 11-13: 3 Stooges: Rickey Bennett, Kevin Carlson, Darrell Williams of Huntsville
• Boys 7-10: 4 Plus 1: Jackie Edwards, Jr., Dion Johnson, Raymond Russell, Jalen Crawford, & Sasha Johnson of Huntsville.

Other participating teams:

• Men 18 & up: Heat, And 1 , YMCA, DeadEnd Barber Shop 1 & DCCI;
• Women 18 & up: Brenham Blue Belles & Lady All Stars;
• Boys 14-17: Creagor Elsom
• Boys 11-13: H-2-0
• Boys 7 - 10: Rockets.
